Hillsborough Clear-Out Begins

Hillsborough Clear-Out Begins

Wednesday boss Alan Irvine has revealed that he'll be releasing six first team players at the end of their contracts next month.

Etienne Esajas, Michael Gray, Leon Clarke, Sean McAllister, Frank Simek and Francis Jeffers will all be looking for new clubs after being released.

Wednesdayites expected a large restructuring in terms of the playing staff and Irvine hasn't let them down.

Just two players who are out of contract in the summer will be offered new deals - youngsters Richard O'Donnell and Arron Jameson.

Irvine has revealed that the recruitment process for the 2010-11 campaign has already started as he looks to build a squad capable of bouncing back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

So as we've kept 2 keepers it looks like Granty could be on his way out as well then!!! Shame about EE as I have always thought he has had something to give every time he plays, good luck to them all though, apart from Jeffers who has been an absolute shower.....

No surprises really, EE was frustrating but I always hoped he might get some consistency. Feel sorry for Sean, last season he put in some decent performances but hasn't had a look in this year. The rest I'm not surprised by, with Frank going, does it mean Nolan is staying? As for Jeffers/ Clarke, wait for them both to get hat tricks against us next year!

Glad clarke and Jeffers have gone: Two of the worst players I've seen at wednesday. Bit gutted for Frankie but he was never the same after his injury might mean Nolan's coming back. I might have kept Mcca and EE but I'll trust Irvine's judgement. I wouldn't think the two young keepers getting new contracts has anything to do with Grant. I doubt either of them are ready to make the step up to number 1 yet.

gutted for frankie, deffinately hasnt been the same player which is a shame cos hes a top bloke. pretty annoyed macca didnt get more of a run cos he has bags on energy and i think he will go onto to better things personally. ee, well what could have been isnt worth mentioning, si wont.

Watford already linked to Esajas as he is apparently one of Malky Mackay's top targets! Personally I think the Championship big wigs will be circling Grant and Johnson any time soon.

Esajas didn't get picked due to the fact that he didn't try in training, he had a lot of talent but wasted his opportunity due to laziness. I hope we sign a big rough centre forward of the Alan Lee / Steve Howard mould to play alongside a more mobile goal scorer like either of the southampton forwards or Billy Paynter from Swindon. I would hope to sell Tudgay as I don't see him as an out and out striker and I would be happy with a more conventional set up
