Hillsborough Clear-Out Begins

Wednesday boss Alan Irvine has revealed that he'll be releasing six first team players at the end of their contracts next month.

Etienne Esajas, Michael Gray, Leon Clarke, Sean McAllister, Frank Simek and Francis Jeffers will all be looking for new clubs after being released.

Wednesdayites expected a large restructuring in terms of the playing staff and Irvine hasn't let them down.

Just two players who are out of contract in the summer will be offered new deals - youngsters Richard O'Donnell and Arron Jameson.

Irvine has revealed that the recruitment process for the 2010-11 campaign has already started as he looks to build a squad capable of bouncing back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

So as we've kept 2 keepers it looks like Granty could be on his way out as well then!!! Shame about EE as I have always thought he has had something to give every time he plays, good luck to them all though, apart from Jeffers who has been an absolute shower.....
No surprises really, EE was frustrating but I always hoped he might get some consistency. Feel sorry for Sean, last season he put in some decent performances but hasn't had a look in this year. The rest I'm not surprised by, with Frank going, does it mean Nolan is staying? As for Jeffers/ Clarke, wait for them both to get hat tricks against us next year!
Glad clarke and Jeffers have gone: Two of the worst players I've seen at wednesday. Bit gutted for Frankie but he was never the same after his injury might mean Nolan's coming back. I might have kept Mcca and EE but I'll trust Irvine's judgement. I wouldn't think the two young keepers getting new contracts has anything to do with Grant. I doubt either of them are ready to make the step up to number 1 yet.
gutted for frankie, deffinately hasnt been the same player which is a shame cos hes a top bloke. pretty annoyed macca didnt get more of a run cos he has bags on energy and i think he will go onto to better things personally. ee, well what could have been isnt worth mentioning, si wont.
wasnt hinds out of contract aswell??
i think its a joke SM has been released, hes definatley good enough, as for the others couldnt really care, maybe would of kept EE as i think hed p155 on league 1. heard that sedgewick is on his way in next 24 hour and hopefully nolan aswell
Watford already linked to Esajas as he is apparently one of Malky Mackay's top targets! Personally I think the Championship big wigs will be circling Grant and Johnson any time soon.
Esajas didn't get picked due to the fact that he didn't try in training, he had a lot of talent but wasted his opportunity due to laziness. I hope we sign a big rough centre forward of the Alan Lee / Steve Howard mould to play alongside a more mobile goal scorer like either of the southampton forwards or Billy Paynter from Swindon. I would hope to sell Tudgay as I don't see him as an out and out striker and I would be happy with a more conventional set up
Hirsty's Shinpads
i saw a lad from bournemouth who could score goals at level on sky the other week, think he was called pitman, any know anything about him?
Hirsty's Shinpads
i remember a season when we signed bullen, whelan, brunt, jp mcgovern, joey o'brien and kenwyne jones!!! all cost nothing at all. please AI, do the same!!! UTO
no9 de bilde
an hirtsy shin pads, pitman's good, could definately cut it in the championship but 500k minimum

Neil Mellor will be the first signing. I believe hes been released. And Sedgewick I've always rated. I may have kept Clarke for league one and maybe Macca but rest of them...good riddance. Except Franki. Top defender just injury has set him back.
do you think we'll go for mellor? his injury record is terrible and after everything strafford has said i can't see them making risky signings
Hirsty's Shinpads
I think hes been or being released. And can score unlike the rest of the muppets we have had
as a player i do like the look of him, if we can get a full season out of him i would definately get him
Hirsty's Shinpads
Mellor is transfer listed alongside Nolan! Sedgewick has been released and him and Mellor are both Wednesday fans at heart we should've had them 2/3 years ago. If we're bringing Nolan in we may as well have kept Frankie. I understand the rest being released we are looking to build a new squad and they were just squad players.
Simeon Jackson?
Carbone's Padawan
id love simeon jackson but we cant afford him, as far as im aware were still broke so cant go splashing out but jackson would definatley be one of my first choices
Yeah Jackson would be at least 750k if not more! Would there be a chance/if we wanted him to keep Varney?? Seems like Derby dont want him? also seen Jay McEverly has been released?? thought??
yea i noticed mcEverly, would be a good signing, and even gary teale would probably do a good job for us
mceverlly - Didn't he win the X Factor last year.
Radon Barrier
Sorry to all you Clarke lovers, but happy to see him go. Dont know what some people saw in him, think we've forgotten what a decent striker is. Esajas had his moments of wonder, but did'nt put the work in when he did get a game sometimes. Thought Gray was a decent player. And here ends the Jeffers saga at last, a contender for worst signing in the clubs history.
Hinds still has a year left on his contract. Sums Laws up. He gave him a two yr deal last summer. Should have been one. But suppose could be a useful squad addition in League one. We need to sign Sedgewick, Nolan, Mellor and another 2 strikers at least. Though I think our biggest problem is the centre midfield. I like O Connor but for someone who trys so hard he rarely wins the ball and Potter well he hasn't got an ounce of creativity in him. We need a decent cen midfielder or two aswell. The list grows.
sad to see EE go did'nt think he got a fair crack
