Owls Begin Recruitment

Following the release of six out of contract players, Alan Irvine has already begun to eye up replacements.

Irvine revealed on Wednesday player that the Owls won't leave any stone unturned in the search for new players.

First off for Irvine and his staff will be a trip to Scotland to eye up the talent North of the border.

Last time the Owls were in League One, they were inspired by Scots JP McGovern and the talismanic Lee Bullen.Irvine will be hoping for a similar effect this time around and also admitted that he had studied the Leicester City model to see how they revamped their squad following relegation.

Irvine also revealed that the Owls would be scouting 'all over Europe' in search for a team that are capable of playing at Hillsborough.

The release of former England internationals Francis Jeffers and Michael Gray, as well as Dutch winger Etienne Esajas, USA international Frank Simek and homegrown midfielder Sean McAllister, the Owls are now down to just 14 professionals, which includes three goalkeepers.

The squad of 14 could be trimmed yet further, with Lee Grant and Marcus Tudgay likely to be sold.

Should Tudgay be sold, the Owls will be left with no out and out strikers on their playing staff.

The second year academy scholars will find out tomorrow if they've done enough to earn themselves pro deals at S6.
