Alan's Eye On Preston?

We all know managers like to go back to their former clubs to snap players up, and Owls boss Alan Irvine could well return to Deepdale to bolster his squad for their League 1 campaign.

Preston have today announced their list of players that have no future at the club - and it includes some players that could very much 'do a job' in League One.

Stephen Elliott, Neil Mellor, Richard Chaplow, Eddie Nolan, Liam Chilvers, Chris Sedgwick, Darren Carter, Neil Collins will all be leaving Deepdale this summer.

And the news will surely alert former North End boss Irvine as he looks to totally revamp his Wednesday squad for the 2010-11 campaign.

Defender Nolan was at Hillsborough on loan in the latter stages of last season, signed by Irvine, and his deal could well be made permanent in the next month.

The rumour mill has also pointed towards Sheffield-born winger Sedgwick making the switch to S6 in the summer.

The rumour mill is set to up its gear over the next few weeks as clubs look to build their squads for next season sooner rather than later, and we'll have all the latest right here on Vital Wednesday.

Think nolan and carter would be good appointments for league1. Also would like gary teale and jay mceveley released by derby :D

my mate is a season ticket holder at derby and he says that mceverley is a good player, but says that teal is too inconsistent and not that good. would be happy with any of those players listed above.

Ideally Mellor and Sedgwick would be cracking recruitments for League 1.

Stephen Elliot is a good striker, who would be very good at L1 level. I'd be delighted with Elliot, Nolan and Carter from PNE, and maybe Collins. Bogdanovic, if interested would be nice

We havn't got a cat in hells chance of getting bogdanovic. Heffernan has been released, he would be a good League 1 striker.

Why can Quinn f off?? Turner released him when he should not been released. He had to find football somwhere. Yeap lets sign half of the preston team some decent players in there esp Sedgewick, Mellor Nolan and Carter. I really want Austin from Swindon but can see a champ side having him.

there is no way we will sign mellor, he has spent half his career injured so it doesn't matter how good he might be or has been we simply will not risk it
