Owls Skipper Aims High

Wednesday skipper Darren Purse has set his sights high for the Owls' League One campaign by insisting the side should aim for the title.

The Owls will be looking to bounce straight back to the Championship following relegation this season, and will be amongst the favourites to do just that.

But the former Cardiff City and West Brom man wants to leave nothing to chance, and is looking to win the title to put smiles back on faces at Hillsborough next term.

He told the Sheffield Star: 'I don't just want to finish in the top six - I want to win the title, and I think the club deserves that.'

The 33-year-old is set to be one of just a few of the Owls first team from this season to continue in a starting role next term under boss Alan Irvine.

I can't see the club captain leaving for MK Dons unless it's for silly-ish money

BFL I was having a laugh. He was rubbish when we had him and is still rubbish. Shows the quality of your squad over the past few season to think he is good enough. Love sufc too much .. yeh right!

That where we were when we got rid of him last time Florida. It is his level, thats why he went from us to I think it was stockport before you. Don't know what to think of Purses comments really. Will he be here, do we want him. If he's on high wages then he isn't worth it. Anyway can't Wednesday and Plymouth form a coalition and get Palace and S****orpe relegated instead.
