Grant: We Owe It To Fans

Wednesday goalkeeper Lee Grant has pledged his future to the Owls and insists he, and the rest of the squad, owe it to the fans to bounce back next season.

Grant, the Owls' player of the season last term, had been linked with a move away from Hillsborough thanks to his top-drawer performances between the sticks.

Those links have intensified following Wednesday's relegation to League One, with Burnley and Birmingham City amongst those clubs rumoured to be interested in his services.

But Grant insists he won't be putting in any transfer requests for a move away from S6 as he looks to help Wednesday bounce straight back to the Championship, telling the Sheffield Star: 'I am fully focused on getting fit and ready to play a big part in a winning team next year.

'I'm concentrating on getting ready for pre-season training and leading the charge in League One.'

The former England Under-21 stopper still has two years left to run on his Hillsborough contract.

But, although insisting he's keen on remaining an Owl, that won't stop clubs making bids for the number one this summer, and with Wednesday's current financial situation as it is, a tempting bid could still see Grant on his way.

Let's hope not, but we at Vital Wednesday are sure the rumours will continue for a little while yet.

This man is rapidly becoming one of my all-time favourite Wednesday players. If this is legitimate, then he deserves massive credit. It's refreshing to hear a professional footballer with this sort of mentality. Well done Lee Grant and I hope you stay with us for many years to come. UTO
Carbone's Padawan
Grant has signed for Burnley, only kidding Carbone's Padawan.

LoL - that would have well and truly shut me up.
Carbone's Padawan
A truly rare breed. They should make him captain. He's an example to all footballers, not just Wednesday players.

I still think we may have to brace ourselves if a decent offer comes in though. If we get a £2mill offer I think it'd be accepted.
Carbone's Padawan
top man, but like carbone says if a decent bid comes we can't do anything about it
Hirsty's Shinpads
According to the Daily Star grant has rejected a chance to join Wigan worth £2.5m

I would love to keep Grant, it would be superb news but surely offers of 2.5m would be excepted regardless of whether he wants to stay or not, we couldn't ignore those sorts of fees could we?
