'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Former Owl Joins Non-League Bears

Former Wednesday player Lee Briscoe has joined Northern Premier League side Wakefield FC as he looks to step into the coaching side of the beautiful game.

Briscoe, most famous for his last-gasp thunderbolt of a winner in Wednesday's dramatic 1-0 victory over Arsenal back in the Premier League days, is currently taking his UEFA B licences.

And the 35-year-old will work alongside former Celtic and Barnsley legend Ronnie Glavin at Wakefield FC as he looks to gain vital coaching experience.

Glavin told the official Wakefield FC website: 'It will be a good experience for Lee and one that will be useful as he undertakes his UEFA licences.

'He will also be a great asset for the club bringing Premier League experiences to share with the players.

'I'm very much looking forward to working with him and hopefully sharing some of my coaching experience to help him through his UEFA B Licence.'

Briscoe, who lives in Wakefield, made 48 starts for the Owls before going on to have a brief stint at Manchester City and enjoyingn playing spells at Burnley and Preston North End.
