'Sheffield' Derby Still On For 2010-11

'Sheffield' Derby Still On For 2010-11

Wednesday may be a division below bitter rivals Sheffield United next season but the Owls are still in with a chance of a Steel City derby match next season.

It may not be the one that Wednesdayites want, but at least they could face some form of local derby clash in the form of League Two promotion-hopefuls Rotherham United.

The Millers, of course, currently play their home games at Sheffield's Don Valley Stadium.

And with the Owls plying their trade in League One next term, the Millers could provide the only derby clash of note next season should they overcome Dagenham & Redbridge or Morecambe in the League Two play-off final at Wembley.

Huddersfield Town will provide some Yorkshire opposition after they failed in their bid for promotion in the League One play-offs with defeat at Millwall on Tuesday night.

But it's the potential game at Don Valley against Ronnie Moore's Millers that could provide Wednesdayites with the nearest away game next season.

It'll be intertesting to see just how many Owls fans there are inside Don Valley compared to Millers fans should Rotherham achieve promotion this season and ace Wednesday next term.

Good luck to the Millers at Wembley, though...

Rotherscum are just poor mans Blades, they hate Wednesday with a passion , just like all the other local sides, Dingles, Donny Chesterfield etc. I hope they get battered by Dagenham and look forward to seeing some tears from their scruffy

Anybody who's walked up $h?t-pan alley from the back of Millmoors away end to be confronted by toothless , dribbling ,snide burberry wearing chavs, so filthy and retarded they would make jeremy kyles guests look like the crowd at the Monaco Grand prix. would wish Rotherham nothing but a long expensive misery filled day at Wembley

I think it's because we've been in the premiership for longer than them, Europe, cup finals and won a cup, plus a ground thats been used world cup matches, all something they will never see, and thats why all of them are so jealous of us Sussexowl. lets just hope that the good days are not too far away again.
