QPR Sign Former Owl Clarke

Former Wednesday striker Leon Clarke has wasted no time in finding a new club after Queens Park Rangers secured his services on a two-year deal today.

Clarke's time at Hillsborough came to an end after boss Alan Irvine chose against offering him a new deal at the club a few weeks ago.

But Neil Warnock has snapped up his services for the start of the season, meaning the former Wolves man will continue in the Championship next term.

Warnock, who took charge at Loftus Road last season, also admitted that he tried to sign the forward earlier last season during his time as manager of Crystal Palace.

Clarke arrived at Wednesday as a signing of Brian Laws and made 83 starts for the Owls, scoring 18 goals along the way.

What is it about pig managers and ex pig managers always wanting our players.
ecco owl
hahaahhahaha! bet he will score a load of goals here now!
Wednesdayforlife
Never rated the lad-doubt he'll do anything there.
Carbone's Padawan
Don't think he will set the place alight. In fact its just a place for him to go out drinking even more in the city like he did when at Sheffield. I think Warnock just takes pleasure signing players we release.
jamesc1905
I once saw "our Leon" coming out of a kebab shop on london road at 2 o'clock on a tuesday afternoon during pre-season with a big bag in his hand... ...I feel this 1 sighting sums up his time at wednesday, useless!
regi_stinker
Ecco.....Its simple, Warnock will get the best out of him, as he did with all the others when your useless managers were letting them go!
FloridaBlade1
QPR.. the weirdest club in the League. Florida, there's not a man on earth who can get the best out of Leon.
Auckland Owl
Somtimes looked useless, other time showed signs of excellence, time will tell I reckon, needed regular football to be sure one way or t'other, surely ok as a freebie at least?
bluenwhite
Auckland....Like the rest, you are missing the point. Its nothing to do with QPR as a club, its all about a man manager called Warnock. He took a team of has beens, never weres and kids into the Premiership with no money and if there is anything in Clarke, warnock will find it. Put aside your hatred for an ex Blades manager and wake up to the fact that if Warnock had been at swillsboro last season, your rabble would still be in the Championship.
FloridaBlade1
florida i hate swinenock but i agree with you we would have stayed up but only if he had come-in much soon than irvine, too little too late thats why we went down players not playing for the club you know who you are and shame on you. Adam Le Fondre is a player we should chase for next year knows were the goal is!
HorburyOwl
Actually Florida I half agree with you and half disagree with you. I like Warnock as a manager, always have, he makes me smile (particularly when berating the ref) and he does succeed as a manager. Certainly your lots disgraceful treatment of him is being rewarded with Kharmic style justice as you never look like going up again. As for Warnock being the man who would have kept us up? If we had been any other club yes but since he was on record as saying he'd take the job, then spend all of our money (?) and take us down well doubts do arise. Now big Leon. I'm afraid that for all of his occasional quality (and those who argue that he could do a job in L1 might have a point) Leon just didn't cut the mustard (clearly prefering pies). By signing him Warnock is just showing what a fine judge of a forward he has always been. How many strikers arrived at the Lane and left as failures during his time there? Inspite of this I'll still wish Colin and Leon well and Florida, we'll see you in a years time. UTO!
robc
if he picks him as a centre forward and they play to him he will suceed just like he would have here if we'd known what to do with him. like it or not (and most of you won't) his goal scoring record compared with minutes on the pitch is far in excess of any other player we've had recently
Hirsty's Shinpads
robc...Agree with much of what you say. I dont see anything in Leon at all, but then thats what Blades fans said when Wayne Allison arrived, and there were howls of derision when Neil Shipperley was signed. Both were overweight, slow has-beens who came for nowt, but Warnock used them very cleverly and got get the best out of them. Whether you like him or loath him, Warnock is a great man manager. He is always likely to embarass himself and the fans with some outrageous statements, but he is usually right, its just the way he says it. As for his comment about spending your money and taking you down, thats just Neil being a Blade, he would have kept you up if he only had three games to do it.
FloridaBlade1
Three games, i doubt that. i like warnock as a Manager and really enjoyed his book which gives insight into how he became that type of manager. He would have kept us up during the full season, but then so would AI. The point is this is a really bad signing for a team that is supposedley the second or third wealthiest. Anyway if you really are from florida why aren't you out on a golf course instread of dicking around on the internet.

Radon...Just off to the beach now, dont do golf. Remember its 5 hours back here.

Florida, it may surprise you that although I think Warnock is a dick, I also respect him for his ability in management. If it had been at all possible for him to manage Wednesday, he'd have done better than the majority. Clarke, however, whoever he is managed by, will show brief flashes of the kind of player he could be, and all too lengthy periods of the kind of player he settles for being. He's 25 and has learnt nothing about application. Two clubs before QPR, loaned out FIVE times. One goal every five games or worse would be my prediction, even from this distance. It speaks volumes for the guy that his most successful period in football, when he found his level, was at Southend United. You can come back to me at the end of the season when he scores 15 goals plus and say I'm wrong, Florida. But that ain't gonna happen.
Auckland Owl
Florida, you must have an affinity with Mickey Mouse if you live in Florida and support United. Is it true that mickey mouse has a kevin blackwell watch. Don't blame you with the beach, I spent a week in Fort Lauderdale and Miami a few years ago, during spring break. It was over 100 in march. Anyway with Florida blade and auckland owl (i've been there as well) i'm starting to feel a bit left out so i'm thinking of changing my name to either NYC Owl or Bangkok Owl and then moving.
Radon Barrier
NYCOWL, I only live here part of the year. I am a season ticket holder (have been for lots of years) and only missed one away game last season. On the Disney theme, Whats the similarity between the SWFC Board & Mickey Mouse? - None, Mickey is professional.
