Hobson Re-Enters Owls Boxing Ring

Boxing promoter and die-hard Owl Dennis Hobson has entered his name back into the mix for potential investment into the club.

Hobson showed interest in pumping money into cash-strapped Wednesday when Dave Allen was chairman of the club but saw his attempt knocked back at the time.

But, with Allen now vacant from Hillsborough, Hobson has declared his interest in helping to 'move the club forward'.

But he told the Sheffield Star that he hasn't yet been involved in discussions with fans' group Wednesdayite in setting up a potential consortium to take over the club.

Hobson told the Star that he 'would jump at the chance to make a difference at Wednesday' and that he knows 'what's needed but it needs a major team effort off the field'.

Hobson's interest comes following interest from Club 9 Sports, who are thought to be preparing a new bid for the Owls but who are expected to see their moves knocked back by the Wednesday board.

If I find you £2m quid and ask in return that you give to me 40% of everything you currently have plus £400,000 each year does that sound like a good idea to you?
OddOwl
well at least there's interest anyway... the route we're currently taking is restricting us to free agents in the preseason. its embarrassing we cant afford the most basic of transfer fees really...

It's not embarrassing. theres a global financial meltdown underway and every club except the lucky few (man city, QPR) are struggling with investment unless they are in the prem. i've seen it all before. we'll get back eventually but it'll be a few years yet. Could be worse, at least dave allen did't flog the training ground for next to nothing, so we still have tangible assets. Enjoy league 1 it'll be fun.

Heard a very pluasable story this morning, which even if only part correct, would indicate that the club will never ever move forward while the Likes of Grierson, Addy & Hulley are associated with the football club. I have been told that the original bid by Club 9 was £5M now + £5M for the bank + £5M ongoing for the teams development. For this they wanted to put 4 experienced businessmen in the club and have representation on the board (You would want total control for £15M) and 40% of the club with the first payments. OK, for this, they wanted £400K to cover the expenses of these 4 guys who's aim was to take us forward both on and off the pitch. So what was the stumbling block? They wanted to be 3rd in line for getting any money back should it all go wrong. Thats after the bank, after Mr Allen (biggest individual lonee by far) but before all the others. Including the loan note holders on the board. The loan note holders didnt like this and said that they expected Club 9 to be last in line, or at least after them. Club 9 said, ok, but our risk in now increased by quite a bit so we will put £2M now and the rest later (when presumably they had either won the loan note holders round or got rid of them) The board then put the bits out to the press that they liked but not the whole truth. Lee Strafford said I think ime wasting my time with this lot, brought me in to do a job but wont let anything happen if it doesnt suit them, so ime off. I welcome Mr Hobson or any other consortium, but ime afraid that the same will happen every time until something happens to the band of brothers on the board. Get them out, all of them. Shareholder groups call an Extraordinary General Meeting. Let the band of brothers give us all the facts, then see if they survive a vote of confidence. GET THEM OUT.

and how do you propose we do that then mate?
Carbone's Padawan
Are we the most backward retarded club around or what? Fed up with this. We have a board full of complete wasters.

Id think that this would be more credible if he actually spent some time away from the bookies. Every time that I go in the local he is there!
