Burton To Feature Against England?

Owls striker Deon Burton has joined up with his Jamaican team-mates ahead of their two friendly matches against Ghana and England next month.

Burton will be hoping to impress the Reggae Boyz technical director Wendell Downswell, who invited the former Derby County hitman - and other English-based players - along to have a look at them as they prepare for two friendly matches.

Downswell told the Jamaica Observer: 'I'm just having a look at them. I haven't made any definitive decisions yet on these players, but they will commute to join us at the training sessions we have here.'

Burton was part of the Reggae Boyz team that qualified and lit up the 1998 World Cup finals in France, and he hopes to play some part in the friendly with England next month.

Wolves midfielder Rohan Ricketts will also join Burton at the training sessions, while Watford's Ashley Young and Marlon King will continue their successful summer by joining the team at their training site in Watford.

Burton joined the Owls in the January transfer window from Rotherham United for a fee of £110,000. He helped the Owls secure their Championship status by forming a strong partnership alongside Marcus Tudgay.

Jamaica will play England as part of Sven Goran-Erikssons pre World Cup warm up matches. The match will take place on Saturday June 3 at Old Trafford. The match is live on BBC Sport.

I was a bit shocked when we signed him, thought his days were over in the top divisions, but he really has been brilliant. Formed a great partnership with Tudgay.

£110,000 seems a bit pricey to me when we signed him to be honest, but he's exactly how I remember him when he was in his prime, but a little more experienced. Grewt bit of business and would be good to see him rewarded with a match against England! (maybe even Carson?!)
