Owls To Announce Sedgwick Signing

Wednesday are set to complete their first signing of the summer by bringing former Preston North End midfielder Chris Sedgwick to Hillsborough.

The club have yet to confirm the arrival of the former Rotherham United man but Vital Wednesday understands the midfielder to be the first to put pen-to-paper on a deal at S6 this close season.

Sheffield-born Sedgwick has been hotly tipped to follow boss Alan Irvine to the club for some time, and his release from Deepdale all-but sealed his move back to South Yorkshire.

The 30-year-old comes with plenty of experience at Championship level with North End - he played a major role in their campaign last season.

In total he made 207 starts for the Lancashire club following his £400,000 move to Deepdale from Rotherham United in 2004.

Wednesday are expected to confirm the midfielder as a summer arrival in the next 24 hours.
