Otsemobor Signs For Wednesday

Wednesday have completed their second signing in as many days with the arrival of defender Jon Otsemobor on a two-year deal from Southampton.

The 27-year-old is out-of-contract at Saints and has opted for a move to Hillsborough for the forthcoming Npower League One campaign.

Owls boss Alan Irvine said: "I`ve known about Jon for a long time, since he was a youth team player at Liverpool. He was a centre half at that time but has since developed into a very attack-minded full back.

"He's a good athlete, quick, strong and knows what it's like to be at a big club having spent his early years at Liverpool and then going on to play for the likes of Norwich and Southampton. He certainly ticks a lot of boxes."

Otsemobor added: "It goes without saying they are one of, if not the biggest club in the division.

"The most important thing for this club is to get out of this division as soon as possible and myself and the other new recruits can hopefully help push towards that and get the rewards over the season.'

Vital Wednesday understands there could be more news on new arrivals at Hillsborough tomorrow. Keep posted to Vital Wednesday for all the latest news.

hope spurr goes to leeds, he was useless last season!!!!! nolan is a far better left back!!!!
supersibon
and pleased with this signing also!

hope irvine can get the best out of this guy. he sounds like he has ability but can be lazy. but i agree we certainly need a bit more pace
Hirsty's Shinpads
We need to keep Spurr as I'm sure he'll come good again next season. He would be one of the best left backs in the Championship, never mind League One

Otsemobor....interesting signing. Can definitely be a bit lazy but has blistering pace. Let's hope Irvine can get the best out of him.

I hope Spurr stays with good players comming in he will get his confidence back and come good again

Not bad signing needs to address the centre of midfield this is our biggest problem and has been for a long time.
jamesc1905
we're talking to James Harper from what I hear.
Carbone's Padawan
robc what do you think. He is an ATTACKING defender so he will be able to supply our STRIKERS with plenty of service.
Radon Barrier
Still think that our biggest problem is a lack of forwards, need to sign someone decent before they go elsewhere!!!
Hickyowl1977
Hicky you're spot on. Supply hasn't been the problem, scoring has been. Maybe Tudders will be reborn in this division, that's what happened with Matty Fry at Leicester, but do we want to put all our eggs in one basket? We need a strong tall old fashioned centre forward to lead the line and another forward to work off him. Most important of all is that both have to know where the net is and how to SCORE GOALS. No GOALS, No Promotion. This however looks a decent signing in a problem area but still I'm not inspired. How's that Radon?
robc
Pretty much as expected robc. Youre right though. i don't want varney though and i can't understand why some wednesday fans want mclean bach. he was a crock and too lightweight. I'm getting a good vibe about these signings but we haven't had a proloific scorer for the past 10 years which is a major factor in the reason why we are where we are. We only went up last time because of the short time penguin jones played for us. look at the difference a few goals made. AND we still nearly blew it then after he left. please not varney though.
Radon Barrier
I'm in agreement with you over Varney as long as we have Tudgay, one simply makes the other redundant. You're also on the money about Jones and Macca, a great team that pushed us to promotion in a short time but when apart Macca suffered (tho the broken leg didn't help and he still had the nerve to score that penalty). I'm slightly reluctant to get excited by these new signings as two of the three are past their prime and if we don't do well immediately then we won't make any cash flogging them on. Chris Turner could buy players of potential but not manage the team, KPS relied on the Southampton youth team but also found Majid who, as a player, was class. I just think that we need to look to a long term future where we develop talent, flog it on and use the finance to get rid of the debt as well as affording a little to the manager.
