Heffernan 'Can't Wait' To Get Started

New Wednesday signed Paul Heffernan insists he 'can't wait' to get start with his new club after making the switch to Hillsborough.

As revealed first on Vital Wednesday earlier, the former Doncaster Rovers striker has become Alan Irvine's third signing in as many days.

The striker has agreed a two-year deal with the Owls and will official join the club on Thursday, July 1.

And he's revealed that he turned down interest from other clubs to pull on the famous blue and white stripes next season.

He said: 'I've been talking to a number of clubs but as soon as I found out about the interest from Sheffield Wednesday, my mind was made up.

'This is a massive football club and I can't wait to meet the rest of the lads and get started.'

Boss Alan Irvine said: 'Paul's goalscoring record speaks for itself. Goalscorers tend to stay consistent and I am sure that Paul will score goals for Sheffield Wednesday.

'I've done my homework on him as well and he certainly has the character to play for a club this size.'

he may be small but he knows where the goal is

Another good signing I think. We have effectively traded Jeffers for Heffernan and no doubt have saved money on wages. Looking at Heffernans career stats he has scored 40 goals in 103 appearances since joining Doncaster in June 2005. Not a massive number of games in five years, but a decent goal return.
