Owls Snap Up Wolves' Jones

Wednesday have completed their fourth signing of the summer by bringing out-of-contract Wolves defender Daniel Jones to Hillsborough on a three-year contract.

The 23-year-old is primarily a left-back but can also play in midfield and will officially become an Owl on Thursday, July 1.

Jones came through the ranks at Wanderers but has only made 11 appearances for the Molineux club.

He told the official SWFC website: 'It is really important for me to play for a manager that will help my development and I am certain that I have made the right decision to come to Sheffield Wednesday.

'Another attraction was playing in front of big crowds at a ground such as Hillsborough. I'm absolutely delighted and really looking forward to the new season.'

Owls boss Alan Irvine said: 'I'm delighted to bring Daniel to the club. I've been aware of him since he broke through a few years ago at Wolves.

'He's recently been out on loan and played a lot of games in League One, so he's another player who knows what the division is all about. He's quick, very athletic and has an excellent left foot.

'Daniel is a player with potential to really develop. I've spoken to him about the fact that we are a coaching club and one that will help develop young players.'

The Dudley-born defender had loan spells with Notts County and in League One with Bristol Rovers last season.

fairly happy with the signing!!! does this mean that he will end his pursuit of nolan??? and use spurr in the centre???
supersibon
spurr is going to leeds so guess this guy is replaceing him dont know much about him hope he decent
retfordowl1867
cant say im too bothered if he goes-spurr obviously is not a left back, and if theres no centre back slot for him, then might aswell get a fee for him and bring in someone else!!!!!
supersibon
I didn't know much at all about him so i looked on a wolves forum and they all seem to have good things to say about him. Got to be better than Spurr.
S12 OWL
this looks a good signing. i'm pleased we are getting defenders with a bit of pace cos we've been getting murdered down the wings. like i said before i reckon spurr could do a good job on left side of midfield, if not get shut to leeds cos he is a liability at left back

Grant and spurr to the lane for 1.5m?

***** for life why do you bother making yourself look stupid
retfordowl1867
With the Kenny money gone straight into your glorious leader's pocket, just how would you pull that off, bfl?
Auckland Owl
why are people suggesting with the arrival of jones that we would be getting rid of tommy spurr? jones can play left midfield and left back and spurr can cover at centre back its all about having quality options. looking forward to seeing the new lads in the blue and white UTO
aussie2005
hope he proves better than the last signing from wolves
