Spurr Linked With Leeds United Move

Wednesday defender Tommy Spurr is wanted by Leeds United boss Simon Grayson, Vital Wednesday understands.

Grayson is building his Leeds squad for their Npower Championship campaign and it's understood he's wanting Spurr, who was born in Leeds, to join his men.

And a move for the 22-year-old could happen sooner rather than later, with talk of the defender moving to Elland Road hotting up this week.

Wednesday boss Alan Irvine has also brought in Wolves left-back Daniel Jones as his fourth signing of the summer, seemingly a replacement for Spurr should he move on.

But Owls boss Alan Irvine has today told the Sheffield Star that Spurr is still part of his plans at S6, despite the arrival of the Wolves youngster.

He told the Star: "I really like Tommy Spurr; he's a really good player and he'll get better. This signing is in addition to him. Daniel can play on the left side of midfield as wellso there's every chance they could both play. I'll be astonished if that doesn't happen at different times."

But any such move for Spurr, whose family follow the Whites, would involve a transfer fee and could leave Irvine with some unexpected transfer funds to play with before the start of the season.

It wouldn't be deemed a huge blow to Wednesday's squad, either - unlike the loss of Marcus Tudgay or Lee Grant.

for me losing spurr, especially as we would recieve a fee for him, wouldnt be too much of a loss, think the money could be used to sign a quality striker!! hopefully!! think irvine is slowly building a squad to get us out of this division, good luck Alan!
