'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Saints Fan's Say On 'Enigma' Otsemobor

We may know little about Wednesday's second summer signing Jon Otsemobor, but Vital Saints' Brian Gibson gives us the lowdown on 'Semi'.

Jon Otsemobor or Semi as we called him, has talent to spare and is fleet of foot,' he said.

When we first saw him we were concerned as to why Norwich let him go in the middle of the season, for nothing. I checked a few of the Norwich sites and they told us that Semi was a player that constantly frustrated. He was liked but was a constant source of consternation and fear when teams were attacking his side of the pitch.

At St mary's we soon learned that these words were very similar to the feelings that we had ourselves about him. We would see him make a couple of good tackles and interceptions. He would swiftly join in with one of our attacks and at times looked exceptional.

Then there were other times though when we felt that he would switch off. He would appear at times to be somewhere else, and at times like this he was a serious liability. Don't get me wrong, I have seen him race into the box to make a last ditch tackle, but he will leave you more often than not deeply worried by his mental alertness.

A few of our fans actually believe that he might make a better right sided midfielder. He has speed on his side and when alert can tackle. We have felt that he may be a player that simply needs to be more involved in a game.

He is an enigma that can be seen all to often. A player with undoubted skill but with a habit of being an airhead.'

It seems like Alan Irvine has his work cut out on Semi, then, but if it comes off it could be a smart bit of business, especially on a free transfer.

sounds like purse will be out of the firing range this season.

Let me add that if your manager can get him to stay focused you could have a bloody good signing.
SFC Forever
He's the new Leon Clarke.
Auckland Owl
if lee grant leaves we could put in an offer for rob green. i have a feeling he may be going cheap soon.
Radon Barrier
will be interesting, but he's 27 now and if he didn't fancy it when he was a liverpool player I can hardly imagine he'll up the ante now.
Hirsty's Shinpads
but he has a fiery scot to motivate him, dont forget he was workinmg under alan pardew, a man that got verbally bitch-slapped by arsene wenger.

Liverpool is a far different ball game to League 1. At this level he's decent. From what I've seen and heard it seem's like he needs to be put into a wide midfield role. Worth try out wide with his pace and JJ's that would scare a lot of League 1 team's to death.
WhoNeedsKaka
i think you've misunderstood what I'm saying kaka. I was talking about his attitude rather than his ability and it seems that at every club he's been at they get shut of him cos he looses interest. If you can't be arsed to try when at Liverpool then there ain't much to come!
