Former Owl Set To Face England

England will settle for nothing less than a win against Algeria tonight, but they'll have to get through a former Owl to bag a crucial three World Cup points in Cape Town.

Former Wednesday defender Madjid Bougherra will be lining up for Algeria in South Africa tonight, hoping that he can help his nation to a shock result against Fabio Capello's men.

Bougherra, now at SPL side Rangers, was a big fans' favourite at Hillsborough during his stint in S6 before the Owls sold him on to then-Premier League side Charlton Athletic for a big profit.

Bougherra has since gone on record saying that probably wasn't the right move for him - but he's now a regular in Rangers' SPL-winning side and gearing up for Champions League football at Ibrox next season.

No doubt his presence tonight will give Scottish fans, and Rangers fans in particular, more reason to cheer for Algeria tonight - as if they wouldn't have been already.

The French-born defender spend just six months as an Owl, after Paul Sturrock brought him to England from French club Gueugnon in the summer of 2006, following Bougherra's impressive loan spell with Crewe.

Signing him for £300,000, the Owls couldn't knock back a £2.5m offer for the defender in the January transfer window - but his signing for Charlton wasn't enough to keep the Addicks in the top flight.
