Does A More Fruitful Week Await?

Wednesday boss Alan Irvine endured a frustrating week in in the transfer market last week - so will this week's transfer activity prove more fruitful at Hillsborough?

Irvine failed to add any new additions to his squad last week, revealing that player and agent holidays, high wages and players not keen on League One football forced him to play the waiting game in bolstering his squad further.

It came on the back of four signings in as many weeks - something that Irvine will be hoping he can repeat as he looks to have his 2010-11 squad in place before the start of pre-season training.

This week, then, will be key for the Owls boss, and will certainly be an interesting one for Wednesdayites anticipating new arrivals at S6.

Irvine has already ruled out a move for powerful striker Jon Parkin from former club Preston, a rumour that's been doing the rounds for some time.

But he's revealed that he could well return to Deepdale to snap-up some more of his players following the arrival of Chris Sedgwick - with defender Eddie Nolan appearing to be on Irvine's list of potential summer recruits.

Striker Neil Mellor, too, has been linked with a summer move back to his hometown to join up with his former boss at Wednesday.

Vital expects four ot five new signings before Irvine announces his squad as 'complete' for the forthcoming League One campaign, and we, you, and the Owls boss will be hoping that we find out at least one of those names before the week's out.

Michael Ricketts is a big striker and a free agent knows the league so think he has him in mind if Mellor doesnt come off!

on a side note is there any kind of a "free agent" database for people/football managers to have a look through? it'd be interesting to see a formal list of whose out of contract. wonder if such a thing exists or is it just in football management games???

carbone's Padawan, there is a PFA transfer list on the following link which makes interesting reading, http://www.givemefootball.com/pfa-transfer-list. i'm sure there's one or two players we'd all recognise and would fancy bringing to Hillsborough, may not be able to afford transfers fees but surely we can pay decent wages by league 1 standards anyway??

Roy o donovan is a free agent from sunderland, who spent lastr season on loan. scored 9 goals in around 12 games i believe for hartlepool. Also Ben Burgess from blackpool,and a strong midfielder Lee Carsley.
