Former Owl Signs For Carlisle

Former Owl Signs For Carlisle

Former Wednesday defender Frank Simek has found a new club following his release from Hillsborough, penning a deal with Carlisle United.

The American was one of a number of players at S6 told that their contracts were not being renewed for next season, prompting Simek to pen a two-year deal at Brunton Park.

The 25-year-old was a popular member of the Owls squad following his arrival in 2005 but injuries saw him spend a lot of time on the sidelines recently.

And Owls boss Alan Irvine was forced to be ruthless in rebuilding the squad for the new season, telling Simek that his contract wasn't going to be renewed at Wednesday.

Simek will be joining up with former team-mate Graham Kavanagh, who's now assistant manager with Carlisle.

It means Owls fans could still be seeing Frankie in action next season in United's two npower League One matches against Wednesday.
