Wednesday Set For Friendly Openers

Wednesday will play their first pre-season friendly matches on domestic soil of the summer tonight, with clashes against Hallam FC and Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Alan Irvine and his men returned from their week-long training camp in Austria at the weekend, having played a friendly match to wrap-up the hard-working week of events.

But tonight's double clash will give Wednesdayites the chance to see Irvine's new-look side for the very first time.

The Owls boss has split the senior squad pretty much down the middle, giving fans to see first-team players at both Hallam and Stocksbridge.

Irvine will look on at Hallam FC while assistant boss Rob Kelly will take charge of the side that travels to Stocksbridge.

But new signing Clinton Morrison isn't expected to be included in either squad, after Irvine named both starting elevens for the matches yesterday.

The starting eleven to face Hallam will be: Jameson, Buxton, Purse, Barnett, Spurr, Teale, Miller, Coke, Boden, Heffernan, Tudgay.

The eleven to face Stocksbridge has been confirmed as: O'Donnell, Otsemobor, Hinds, Beevers, Jones, Sedgwick, O'Connor, Potter, Palmer, Mellor, Johnson.

Round-ups will be available here on Vital Wednesday after the matches.
