Wednesdayite Hobson Backing Club 9

Boxing promoter and Wednesdayite Dennis Hobson is throwing his weight behind Club 9 Sports' latest offer to invest in the Owls.

The American's have already seen an offer to invest in the club knocked backed but have returned with a new offer, which will initially see an investment of £3 million.

And Hobson, who has previously shown interest in investing in the Hillsborough club himself, is backing the deal.

Talking to the Sheffield Star, he said: 'It's the best offer on the table and I believe in it.

'Instead of us being a rudderless ship, we have to build some solid foundations.'

Hobson, now based in Jersey, has revealed that he was approached by Club 9 to act as a consultant to the club as part of their new offer.

Wednesdayite chairman John Gath has confirmed that he's held talks with the group about their potential offer.

And the news on Club 9's latest offer is likely to continue throughout the week.

Lee Strafford stepped down as chairman at the end of last season, with Howard Wilkinson stepping in to the role until the start of the new campaign.

Handy for Hobson, to ride in on the back of someone else's money.

Do we really need to start all this investment stuff again right now? For the first time in a very long time Wednesday are looking like we've got a good manager, good players and some kind of optimism and togetherness. Let's just get on with it. The whole investment thing is depressing and negative and for this season at least, we don't need Hobson, Cloud 9 or anyone else.

Fully agree with you there baldowl

Ignorance is bliss! We're all fed up of it, but the financial state of the club will have to be sorted out one day or another. Maybe we should just hang tough for a few months, looks like we're in for a good season and see who come sniffing round then.
