Celtic Latest In-Line For Owls Stopper

Scottish giants Celtic are the latest club to be linked with a swoop for highly-rated Wednesday goalkeeper Lee Grant, according to reports today.

The Owls number one has already been linked with moves to West Brom and Burnley this summer following Wednesday's relegation to npower League One.

But Sky Sports are today reporting that the SPL club are lining up a move for the former England U21 to replace Artur Boruc, who left the club earlier this week for Fiorentina.

A bid of anything above £1.5m could be enough to grab Grant's services given the Owls' current financial situation.

But boss Alan Irvine will be keen to keep his men, given Grant has been Wednesday's key player in recent campaigns.

The former Derby County stopper is currently recovering from a shoulder operation and has yet to feature in any of Wednesday's pre-season friendlies.

He's rated as 50-50 as to whether he'll be fit and available to start Wednesday's first game of the season, at home on Saturday, August 7.

1.5! That's an insult to him and us!

this'll be a major test - got a bad feeling about this as they can offer champions league football regardless of the standard of the SPL. really hope we can hold on to him as I personally think he should be our club captain.
Carbone's Padawan
Not sure about the club captain thing because I really don't think he's vocal enough, but I agree that 1.5 million is a bit of an insult..... should be at least double that!
US Owl

i don't know on this one, he's injured so we've got to pick someone else to start the season, I would assume O'donnell. he may turn out to be just as good or better. regardless of Grant's loyalty, any footballer has got to want to play at the highest level they can manage and obviously division 3 is below this guys expectation. £1.5m ain't bad for goalie. I like Grant but then I can't remember us playing against many bad goalies last year so I reckon he can be replaced. Don't forget that although he is a good shot stopper, he let a few poor goals in last season and his distribution is not particularly good. If we can hold out for £2m it would be better tho!

Grant is a good shot stopper but a bit susspect on crosses, I think o`donnel could be a decent keeper given the chance. Grant seeing the squad we have got now may want to stay
Owlet
