Mawene To Become An Owl Today?

Vital Wednesday understands that former Preston North End defender Youl Mawene could become Wednesday's latest signing within the next 48 hours.

Mawene, out of contract at Deepdale, has been linked with a move to Hillsborough throughout the summer to reunite with former boss Alan Irvine.

And sources close to Vital understand the defender has been in Sheffield this morning for a medical, and is all set to put pen-to-paper.

Owls boss Irvine has already indicated he'd like to sign Mawene - should the finances allow it.

And it seems that Wednesday could well have finalised a deal for the French centre-back this week, with Mawene set to sign should he pass his medical.

Be a good signing and would add real depth at centre half, bit worried who we will get if Grant goes considering the season is fast approaching and the other two goalies have not played a game between them

would give AI more options at centre back and would make beevers and purse want to fight for their place more, does anyone know anything about mawene, is he good?

Already said this on Owlstalk but thought i'd share it on here too, A very very good source told me today that Mawene has completed his medical this morning and is all set to sign. And Morrison is not fully fit yet so is not expected to feature tomorrow. I think this could be the final part of the jigsaw. Come On Wednesday!!

Good player...hope the rumours are true.

I do hope AI is right and really does know what he is doing, the signings from PNE are all players who have been released and not deemed good enough for them to move forward and push on up the Championship, either AI is a genius and Fergusen is a numpty, or we may have a problem, genuinely I think and believe AI knows what he is doing, I do hope I am right

Preston wanted to keep Mawene bit wanted him to take a pay cut.
