Burnley Test Owls With Grant Bid

Brian Laws' Burnley have made a bid for Wednesday's highly-rated goalkeeper Lee Grant, according to media reports today.

Grant's future has been subject to much speculation this summer and Sky Sports are reporting that the Clarets have tabled a bid for the former England U21 international.

Laws knows Grant well from his time as boss at Hillsborough and may know how good of an offer is required to secure the 27-year-old's services.

The Turf Moor side, relegated from the Premier League last season, have been looking for a new number one throughout the close season.

But Wednesday won't let Grant go lightly, with boss Alan Irvine already revealing that they don't need to sell players ahead of the new campaign.

Grant has also been linked with moves to West Brom and SPL giants Celtic following the Owls' relegation to npower League One.

The stopper hasn't played yet during pre-season and is recovering from an operation to a shoulder injury.

Burnley will return to being a mediocre Championship club now. May sound rich coming from us in League 1, but we'll be back above them before long. A step back IMO

Claret Claude too good for a tin pot outfit with an awful manager temporarily punching above their weight.

I come on and ask a reasaonable question about how good your keeper is and I get abuse? You deserve to be where you are.
