'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fans React To Burnley's Grant Bid

Wednesdayites have been having their say on Burnley's reported bid to sign Owls stopper Lee Grant - and we're not a happy bunch!

Media reports today have suggested former Owls boss Brian Laws has put a bid in take Wednesday's number one to Turf Moor in time for the new Football League season.

And Vital Wednesday members have urged the Owls board to reject any offers for last season's player of the year - unless the Clarets offer at least matches our valutation of the stopper.

Forum member 'pob' said: 'I'll be gutted if this goes through.

'I was always kind of confident of Grant staying because he seems pretty loyal to us for 'saving him' when he ws in a rut at Derby. I've heard him say before that he owes us for doing that to him. But now I'm wondering if he's got that loyalty to the club or whether its to Laws for signing him.'

chapowl said: 'Oh dear. I fear this could be the end for Grant at SWFC as we know it!'

newman87 said: 'Is Burnley really that much of a step forward for him? I'd understand if it was Celtic or West Brom but even with rose tinted Owls specs on Burnley, really???'

Gforceswfc said: 'If he's off I wouldn't accept less that 3Mill. I know thats a bit optimistic but he's a top keeper & with the way football is going and our debt increasing by 3 mill this season. we either cover our losses or tell Granty he's staying.'

spiro theocropolis said: 'we have to pay for all those new signings somehow but I always thought it would be Tudgay on his way.'

DB2002 said: 'I don't want to lose him, BUT given that the club have decided that they will finance a further 3M of debt and try and get themselves out of this division and has repeatedly said they do not have to sell, then the scenario might turn out as sell and re-invest.

'Sell for let's say 2M use some of the 2M to pay a young Premier league 2nd keeper on loan (as per Carson or Turner).

'On top of the squad that has already been recruited use some of the cash to make further STRONG additions through a couple more season long loans.

'Keep back a balance in case we need to make a move for a final push in January or February.

'The 2M could provide the final impetus to turn the team into something very useful this season.'

How about £2m plus jensen coming the other way ?
Aston_Owl
I'd want someone better than Jensen tbh
newman87
Jensen in League one ...maybe good enough
DB2002
Is 'good enough' what we're wanting? We need better than that to have a chance to go back up and that's why we need to ensure we keep Grant.
mallyman
agree totally with mallyuman, we dont just want good enough..we want a good keeper who is better than average, grant being chased by other clubs showes he is a better than "good enough" keeper . we need to keep granty !
