Owls' Injury Worries Not Serious

Wednesday manager Alan Irvine insists injuries picked up by Mark Beevers and Jermaine Johnson in the 1-0 loss to Scunthorpe United are nothing to worry about.

The duo both left the pitch early in the friendly defeat at Glanford Park yesterday afternoon.

Centre-back Beevers came off as a precaution following a clash of heads while Johnson was brought off following a kick to the back of his leg.

But Irvine is confident the duo will be straight back in training on Monday as the Owls prepare for their next friendly outing against Barnsley at Oakwell on Tuesday night.

He told the official SWFC website: 'Mark has had a few stitches but he will train on Monday as normal. If there was a game, he would play.

'JJ came off just before the end after taking a kick to the back of his leg but that is nothing serious.'

Beevers is set to continue at the heart of the Owls' defence on Tuesday but the Owls boss could well rest Johnson anyway as he continues to tinker with his squad in preparation for the new campaign.
