Owls Accept Burnley Bid For Grant

Lee Grant's Wednesday career looks to be at an end after the Owls today accepted a bid from Burnley for the goalkeeper.

Brian Laws' Clarets have been desperate to get their man and Burnley's official site is now reporting that they've had a bid accepted.

The former England U21 is set to begin talks with the Turf Moor club.

if this is true....then it best be 2-3 mil that has been accepted and not 1 mil that was offered previously. still it has to be said i dont think we should be selling our best player, the transfer money must be used to bring in another quality keeper.

The board should be ashamed, selling one of our best and most hard to replace players to pay off a tax bill. Dont know how the transfer embargo works, but i assume that impacts players coming in, not going out, so we wont even be able to replace him until after Aug 11 at the earliest. I am really getting *****ed off by all the non-football bull***** ruining this club. the board should resign or sell up!

He doesn't want to go and to probably won't even ask for any more money than we give him. Hes being forced to go. If it means our club can least go forward then so be it. Very frustrating though. No player is bigger than the club. Weaver can do a job and we might be able to bring in Mawene with the cash aswell. Anyone see Carbone in the masters tonight outstanding. And he wants a trial again with us. I'd take him be very useful off the bench and pull some crowds back to Hillsborough.... oh and how much did Pigs get for Kenny... ha ha ha. Idiot.

I dont think we can call Granty a money grabber can we? He's certainly not in the same mould as Richard Wood that's for sure! If he goes I wish him all the best as if it wasn't for him we'd have been in League One alot earlier than we were? Burnly have clearly tested the water after the tax fudge up and it's worked! I cant believe he's needed to be sold to cover that though, surely we could get 500k elsewhere?? It is a step back in terms of club but it's the championship and with Capello openly admitting that he will be looking to the championship for new players you cant really blame him as he is alot better than any England keeper that was at the world cup!! All the best mate if you go, was pleasure having you!

Dont think most of us are really shocked or surprised that he may have gone its just the nature of the board telling fibs and the disclosed fee bit meaning not as much as we wanted

I'd have Carbone back. Absolutely gutted about Grant. If he had to go it should have been to the premiership. Not to a small championship side- not to Laws- and not to pay off a tax bill. Gutted.

Tell me if I'm getting carried away- but we must still have attraction to players- Richard Kingson as Grants replacement?? Was brilliant at the world cup for Ghana and availaleon free- and weaver to compete with him!

God will someone please remove the usless board that holds Wednesday back, year in year out. Where are we going exactly? And after AI has worked his knackers off to put a solid team together for NO money and on the tightest of budgets.... Whats the point? I understand that this is a team sport and that one player isn't bigger than the club but come on Wednesday.... Our best player yet again sold... How many times will we do this and end up in deep regret. AARRRGGGHHHH, this club makes my blood boil. Some times I really wish I didn't care anymore but after all these years of disapointment, embarassment, dashed hopes, pain, somehow I just can't help thinking maybe this season. It's in my blood, my gene's, my DNA.... god help me! So long Granty, best wishes to you, I'll be sad to see you leave. UTO WTID

Shame about grant but at the end of the day, its no good us going into administration and losing most of the squad for nothing, use the money to pay off the tax bill and concentrate on winning the league. Lets be honest, we shouldnt need a top notch keeper with our squad in league one.

We have a very decent championship squad now which is superior to last season and a far better manager than last year against a lower standard of team, we should be far to solid for this standard and hardly give the opposition any chances. it goes without saying we need a new keeper, it doesnt need to be superman though for what he will have to do. Weaver would be more than usefull.
