Irvine Widens Hillsborough Pitch

Irvine Widens Hillsborough Pitch

Wednesday wingers will have a little more room for manoeuvre this season thanks to boss Alan Irvine's decision to widen the Hillsborough pitch.

Irvine has added some width to the pitch for the new npower League One season, as shown in the latest webcam picture of the Hillsborough turf via OurWednesday.com.

Compare it to a picture from last season, viewable here, and you can see the Owls boss is keen for his men to use the full width of the pitch this term.

The new pitch has been put down by the Wednesday groundsmen over the summer and the new lines were drawn out recently.

Irvine bolstered his squad with wingers Gary Teale and Chris Sedgwick over the summer, while the jet-heeled Jermaine Johnson will also be keen to exploit the width.

It also fits in with Irvine's desite to make his squad extra-fit over the summer.

The old lady is certainly looking speldid for the new season - bring on Saturday, August 7!
