Former Owl Wood Set For Tranmere

Former Wednesday prospect Nick Wood is set to join League One side Tranmere Rovers after being released from his contract at Hillsborough this summer.

Wood follows his older brother Richard out of S6 - the former Owls skipper joined Coventry City last season - and has been offered a deal at Prenton Park after impressing Rovers boss Les Parry.

The 19-year-old was told his contract at Wednesday wasn't going to be renewed at the end of last season.

But he's wasted no time in finding a new club, impressing while on trial with Tranmere this summer.

He made his Tranmere debut in a friendly against Nottingham Forest last week and even chipped in with the opening goal.

He also had a spell on trial at Carlisle United earlier this summer but is all set to pen a contract with the Birkenhead club in time for the new season.

And Wood could well feature against the Owls next season.
