Owls Set For Barnsley Test

Wednesday can turn their attentions to matters on the pitch tonight as they travel to Barnsley for their penultimate friendly match of the summer.

Wednesdayites' focus has been firmly on the winding-up petition and expected departure of goalkeeper Lee Grant to Burnley since the weekend.

But Alan Irvine's men can do their talking on the pitch at Oakwell tonight as Mark Robins' Tykes provide some stiff opposition.

The Owls boss could give a first start to summer signing Giles Coke in midfield, although fellow new recruit Clinton Morrison is expected to sit out on the sidelines again.

Other than that, Irvine is set to stick with the same squad that travelled to Scunthorpe United at the weekend.

And the Owls boss will be keen for a more positive result, as well as a performance, following a disappointing pre-season, results-wise at least.

A winning mentality could be key for Wednesday going into their npower League One campaign, and with just two friendly encounters to go before the big kick-off, the Owls need a good result tonight.

How long does Clinton Morrison need to get fit ? Sure Irvine said when we singed him he was 2 games behind rest of team, by my estimation he must now surely be fit enough for inclusion on the bench not sat in the stands. Is he secretly injured and nobody wants to say anything hmmmm ???
