Wembley Play-Off Final In Doubt
A chance to play at Wembley in any possible League One play-off final is in doubt for Wednesday thanks to the venue's hosting of this season's Champions League final.
The final of Europe's biggest football prize takes place on the same weekend as the Football League play-offs are scheduled, on Saturday, May 28.
And although the Championship final could still go ahead on Bank Holiday Monday, the finals for League One and Two may have to be moved elsewhere.
Manchester United's Old Trafford ground and Cardiff's Millennium Stadium are the favourites to get the end-of-season play-offs.
And a spot in the play-offs could be a real possibility for Alan Irvine's Owls next season, meaning Wednesday could well be in the thick of the debate come the end of the season.
Negotiations between the Football League and the FA are understood to be in deadlock with the new season kicking off in less than a week.
The Football League have a 20-year deal to use Wembley for the play-offs, and it's understood that a compensation package will have to be paid to the League.
