Burnley Join Race For Tudgay

A question mark continues to hang over the future of Marcus Tudgay as a Wednesday player after Burnley joined Blackpool in the race for his signature.

Tudgay has already been the subject of a bid from the Premier League newcomers but the Owls rejected their offer last week.

The Bloomfield Road club return with a higher offer for the former Derby County man as the new Premier League season edges ever closer.

But they could face competition from npower Championship side Burnley, who seem to have entered the race for his services this week.

Goalkeeper Lee Grant has already made the switch to Turf Moor this summer to join former boss Brian Laws, and Tudgay could well go the same way if the Clarets can tempt Wednesday with an offer.

Tudgay could be part of Wednesday's squad for the season opener against Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday but he could move to pastures new before the end of the current transfer window.

I wish laws would have sorted this out at the beginning of the summer, typical laws, unsure about anything. if he leaves i wish him all the best, a decent player at best who did ok for us.

I hope Brian comes back with a bid for Potter...

typical laws proberly try and poach him on the cheap just like he did granty just hope the board give the money to alan for a replacement !

I doubt we'll get 1 mill.

I would take 800k for him now, if we can reinvest in the side on wages for another free transfer or loanee

is he really that good? was grant really that good? both tudgay and grant played nearly every game last season, they play in 2 of the most important positions in the team and we got relegated having looked lame up front and letting in 69 goals. both on big money in relation to the rest of the squad. is his heart gonna be in it when its hartlepool away and he could be running out at old trafford?

is he worth 1m? if we spent 1m on a forward who scored 10 goals last year in 40 odd games would any one here be happy? i don't think so, so we can hardly moan about his valuation now
Hirsty's Shinpads
errrm yes we can moan about his valuation when he netted 10 goals despite being in a team fit for relegation fodder. it annoys me to see how fickle fans are sometimes - this lad was brilliant for us the season before and we all loved him. now he's worth a fraction of the 3million we were asking for him last season apparently. some of the 40-odd games he played last season was out wide on the right and when he did up front he had to drop far too deep because he was consistantly starved of service. although he's not a prolific goalscorer he can score goals and create them too, and lets not forget a lot of his goals were pretty spectacular too (ie. sheff utd at bramall lane). I'll be disappointed to see him go for under 1mill.

i am not really that bothered if he stays or leaves i mean the money not got allot to do with it to me its his desire tudgay always has been inconsistent but people forget he a center forward tot a striker wasn't to long ago he was a winger week in week out i think if he stays he needs to show the fans he wants to play for us he a talent and there has been times when i have gone how did he get up for that what a flick on the goal at sufc was a cracker he needs to believe and i think a few early goals and with the conference he be dangerous if he moves on then we are not losing allot apart from the potential he has and he a class apart in this league

Hirsty remember is only as good as whats in front of him cant say our defence was good last year and yes if you play a player out of position and expect him to score be real
Owlet
i'm not having a go at tudgay, i've been saying forever that i think he's a talented player but he isn't a striker and whoever has been in charge has continually played him as a striker. yes he scores spectacular goals but he also needs to score some from 6 yards every couple of games or he isn't doing his job. i said at the start of last season we should have sold him and still think we should have. he sored 10 last season, 14 the one before, 8 the one before that 11 the one before that, i like him better on the wing if he's staying
Hirsty's Shinpads
As he was constantly played on the wing, and your perfer him to play on the wing HS (as I do and most people!) he aint gonna score more goals from six yards is he as he will be the player crossing the ball into the box 9/10! Decent player but we saw what the talk did to him last year whilst he was playing in the championship so to have that same talk again whilst in League One is only gonna do the same, if not more! If he stays, brilliant but if he goes, with the players that have been bought in, in all honesty I dont think he'll be missed!?!
Owls That!
tudgay wasn't played on the wing last season he was picked to play down the middle. the fact that he was drifting out onto the wing is reiterating my point. with him in the team we are a striker light. i want him on the wing with 2 other central attackers in the team. but i do agree with the point that he won't be missed with the other signings
