Two Bids Lined Up For Owls

The on-the-pitch action might be starting again this weekend but the Owls boardroom is going to be a busy place over the next few weeks.

American investment company Club 9 Sports and a a new consortium led by two Sheffield businessmen are set to go head-to-head to try and buy the Owls.

As ever, the off-the-field talk has over-shadowed the on-the-pitch action this summer at Hillsborough and the talk only seems to be hotting up with the new season all set to go.

Wednesdayite Dennis Hobson, who is supporting the Club 9 Sports bid, insists a deal could be struck within the next 48 hours - with the consortium agreeing to guarantee 5m to the club up front - something which Wednesday have demanded from the off.

But the Owls are also in talks with two Sheffield businessmen, who are both understood to be die-hard Wednesday fans fronting a middle-eastern investment group.

The group is keen to remain anonymous until any deal is done and talks are only at early stages, with a deal more likely to take months rather than weeks.

The club has confirmed that, although they're in discussions about a possible takeover, that no offer has yet met the criteria laid out.

Maybe, the reason the embargo has not been lifted (Cant sign Weaver), is that the tax bill has not been paid yet. The Board are probably hoping the club will get investment and have the tax bill included in the deal and they can keep the Grant money. That is the reason the board may just sell up before 11th Aug? ?

that makes no sense, getting investment has been a decade in the making, and all of a sudden its going to be done in the next 6 days? if they dont pay the bill, administration it is. then the grant money goes into thin air and get nothing for the club. i was dubious about the yanks but that hobson being involved wouldnt be all bad, at least its a wednesday fan involved putting the club first.

Really hope club9 don't get control it took them best part of a year to scrounge together 2m, then they get another 1m off hobson, don't think they've got the funds to make an impact
