Wednesday Await Carling Cup Draw

Wednesday will find out their opposition in the second round of the Carling Cup tonight when the draw is made on Sky Sports News.

The Owls secured their place in the next round draw thanks to a close-fought 1-0 victory against a spirited Bury side at Hillsborough.

And the draw will take place after the remaining first round matches are completed tonight.

The draw is understood to be seeded, and Wednesday will be one of the unseeded teams, with the Premier League sides entering as seeded sides, as well as some Championship sides.

It means the Owls could come up against neighbours Sheffield United in the next round.

Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Liverpool do not enter the competition until the third round.

Seeded: Everton, Birmingham, Blackburn, Stoke, Fulham, Sunderland, Bolton, Wolves, Wigan, West Ham, Newcastle, West Brom, Blackpool, Burnley, Hull, Portsmouth, Leicester, Swansea, Middlesbrough, Ipswich, Watford, Preston, Cardiff (if they win tonight), Sheffield United (if they win tonight), Reading (if they win tonight).

Unseeded: Leeds, Millwall, Sheffield Wednesday, Peterborough, Huddersfield, Southampton, Colchester, Brentford, MK Dons, Rochdale, Bradford, Crewe, Accrington Stanley, Morecambe, Northampton, Oxford, Notts County, Port Vale, Shrewsbury, Southend, Leyton Orient, Tranmere, Scunthorpe (if they win tonight), Crystal Palace (if they win tonight), Norwich (if they win tonight).

Let's hope we draw a club with a big crowd away in the next round, like Newcastle, as we could do with the money.

I'd take Preston at home out of that lot. One of the 'easier' matches and gives Alan the chance to get one over them...

Why does it have to be seeded? Ridiculous, just helping the 'bigger' clubs even more!
