Match-Winner Coke Takes Bury Award

Match-Winner Coke Takes Bury Award

Wednesday midfielder Giles Coke has been voted man-of-the-match by Vital members for his performance in the 1-0 Carling Cup victory over Bury on Tuesday night.

Coke came on at the start of the second-half and duly netted the winning goal just after the hour mark with a neat finish to see the Owls through to the next round of the competition.

The midfield man is fast becoming a fans' favourite at S6 following his 'goal' in the season opener against Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday - which was credited as an own goal by the powers that be.

He still isn't up to full speed yet after failing to feature in most of the Owls' pre-season games too, which means the best is probably yet to come.

He certainly added some 'fizz' to Wednesday's performance against the Shakers on Tuesday night, and did enough to take the man-of-the-match accolade from the Vital members.

A deserved winner. How long since we had a big, energetic, ball winning, passing, scoring midfielder? An excelent buy by big Al.

A super goal, nice touch of class in what was a dire game.
