Iron Set For 'Tough' Owls Test

Scunthorpe United boss Nigel Adkins believes his side's clash with Wednesday is one of the 'toughest ties of the round'.

The Iron may be a division above the Owls in the Football League ladder - it will be the first time the two sides will have met in such a position - but they're still wary of the Owls' threat.

'It is one of the toughest ties of the round, when you look at their side they've got some experienced players,' Adkins told the official Scunthorpe United website.

'We won't hide away from the fact it's going to be a tough game. We've already played them in pre-season and beaten them. That was a difficult match for both sides because it was a very competitive game.

'What that fixture managed to do was help both teams get off to a good start to the season.

'On paper they've got more Championship experience than we have but, as we all know, the game is not played on paper.'

Tonight's Carling Cup second round tie kicks-off at 7.45pm and you can follow the reaction on the Vital Wednesday forums.
