Holloway Keeps An Eye On Tudgay

Holloway Keeps An Eye On Tudgay

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway missed his own side's Carling Cup match to Scunthorpe's win over the Owls last night - and it's understood his presence was a scouting mission.

Wednesday striker Marcus Tudgay is thought the be the target of his interest, and although only a substitute in the 4-2 defeat against the Iron, Tudgay netted a penalty in the second-half.

The Premier League outfit have already had a bid turned down by the Owls for the striker, who penned a new deal at Hillsborough last season amid interest from Burnley.

But with less than a week to go before the close of the transfer window it's thought the Seasiders could come back in with an improved offer for the former Derby County man.

Vital understands that no offer has yet been made by Blackpool but Wednesday could be bracing themselves for a last-gasp swoop for the striker early next week.

Owls boss Alan Irvine is keen to keep hold of Tudgay and has insisted that despite the Owls' current financial problems Wednesday don't need to sell more players on the cheap.

But a tempting offer from Lancashire, whether that be from Blackpool or Burnley, who have also been linked with Tudgay, could prove too much for the Owls to resist.

The rumours linking Tudgay with a move away from Hillsborough are set to continue at full throttle between now and the close of the transfer window next Tuesday, so keep your eyes on Vital Wednesday for all the latest updates.

Tuggers is one of our best players and his box to box effort is unequaled. One minutes heading a clearance from a corner, the next second holding up the ball for an attack on the edge of the area. No owls player covers as much ground as him during a game. I was staggered to hear some of the drivel about him on Saturdays praise or grumble. He is obviously under instruction to perform this high energy link play and making last Saturdays goal for Cokers demonstrates this. Hopefully he is in his right mind (and the board too!) and we keep him away from Blackpool.

bluedog i 100% agree. His work rate and impact on the game is seconf to none, even when we are playing rubbish i still think he stops us getting beat by more! Sell him and regret it board!
