Former Owl Set For 'Pool Talks

Former Wednesday loanee Luke Varney is set for a move to Blackpool, meaning Marcus Tudgay could well be staying put at Hillsborough.

The 27-year-old, who spent much of last season on-loan at S6, is deemed surplus to requirements under Rams boss Nigel Clough at Derby but is all set for a shock move to Bloomfield Road to play Premier League football.

He was in Blackpool on Thursday to hold talks with 'Pool boss Ian Holloway and he's expected to conclude a deal in the next few days.

The move could have another impact on the Owls in that it could end Blackpool's continued interest in striker Marcus Tudgay for the time being.

The Seasiders have already had a bid turned away by Wednesday earlier this summer and boss Holloway was at Scunthorpe to see Tudgay in action in the Owls' 4-2 Carling Cup loss on Tuesday night.

Blackpool are also chasing Leicester City hitman DJ Campbell and are understood to be preparing a fresh bid for the former Birmingham City.

Phew! Tuggers is a much much better player and I'm delighted we're keeping him. He and Varney are similar players, so hopefully this will end Blackpools interest.

You have to feel for Blackpool. First time in the Premier League and they haven't got a hope of survival! Varney and Tudgay were shocking in the Championship last season!

Ian Holloway is offficially MENTAL!, first he gives a trial to Jeffers, then bids for Tudgay , and now Varney (Three of the main reasons Wednesday are in the third division) , and numb nuts Holloway thinks any of them can get the goals to stay in the Premier League. I wouldn't be surprised to here that he'd signed Nigel (he smokes 20 Benson) Jemson.

That would be a bonus. wouldnt surprise if laws came sneaking back in for him. its a done deal, varney for blackpool, id have to think twice about taking him in league one, decent worker, but thats about it.
