Owls Reject Second 'Pool Tudgay Bid

Wednesday have rejected another bid from Premier League side Blackpool for striker Marcus Tudgay, according to BBC Radio Sheffield.

The new offer is believed to be less than half a million pounds for the services of one of the Owls' biggest assets, and it could be Blackpool's final offer before the close of the transfer window on Tuesday.

Tudgay has been tracked by Blackpool boss Ian Holloway throughout the summer and the Seasiders boss came to watch the hitman in action for the Owls in their 4-2 Carling Cup loss against Scunthorpe United on Tuesday night.

Tudgay only signed a new deal at Wednesday last summer following interest from Burnley and it's thought that Blackpool's bid for Tudgay is nowhere near the club's valuation.

The Bloomfield Road club have today signed former Owls striker Luke Varney on a season-long loan from Derby County, with a view to a permanent deal.

Blackpool are also still closing in on a deal to sign Leicester City striker DJ Campbell before Tuesday's transfer deadline.

Less than half a million? Words fail me. I can't believe we've got a better strikeforce than a side in the Premier League!

The cheek of it - Tuggers is worth far more - and who else would we get to replace him? I do hope Varneys arrival at Blackpool signals an end to this. So far they have looked at Jeffers, Varney and unsuccessfully at Tuggers. Perhaps they will complete the job by bidding for Leaon Clarke!

knew that'd happen. all offers we receive are derisory and will continue being that way until we're financially stable. end of.

Did ollie see something in our varney/tudgay partnership that we missed last year. With the riff raff they already have, adding varney and dj campbell, hopefully that will be it for embarassing, very unwelcome bids.

Carbone's right, all of our players are worth more than the ridiculously low offers that we keep getting but this happens because we're broke and everyone knows it. If we weren't so hard up year after year then most of our talent would still be here, if we did well on the pitch, and we wouldn't be selling players like Lee Grant for peanuts. It sucks and it won't end until we become more financially stable. I feel sorry for Blackpool though because they seem to be victims of their own success. Did well to get to the Prem but they can't really attract anyone. They may as well play Ant and Dec up front if they think they'll survive in the Prem with DJ Campbell and Luke Varney. Good luck to them though.

Although I'm not Tudgay lover ....he's much too inconsistent in my opinion and plays well when he fancies it. A classic example was at Scunthorpe when he probably knew Holloway was in the crowd he played his socks off. I'd let him go but just stick a 1.5 million valuation on him and tell interested clubs to put up or shut up. I think he'll go at Christmas anyway unless Santa heads up a consortium of nordic businessmen to buy the club. Come on you owls 3 points today and we could be top of the league by 5pm
