Irvine Hails 'Fantastic' Owls Result

Wednesday boss Alan Irvine was all smiles following the Owls' 5-0 rout of Hartlepool United yesterday, hailing his side's performance as 'fantastic'.

Wednesday put together their most comprehensive performance of the season to date at Victoria Park and moved to the top of the League One table.

'It was a thoroughly professional performance and I'm absolutely delighted. Hartlepool is a tough place to come to, I watched them against Sheffield United and they looked a very good side,' Irvine told the official SWFC website.

'Wigan won there in midweek in the cup but I thought 3-0 was a very harsh result considering the quality of Hartlepool's performance.

'This result today was fantastic for us and we are certainly heading in the right direction, but there is always work to be done.'

Irvine will no be preparing his troops for the trip to Brentford next Sunday, which is being shown live on Sky.

I was gutted when he left Everton and hope he gets you boys back in the PL as soon as possible! It was a disgrace what Preston did to him.

Thanks a lot VI. Couldn't be happy with him or how the team is gelling together. Let's just hope they don't give him Manager of the Month! LOL

Great start. We are on target for 114 points. Will be gutted if we get less than 100.
