Wembley Unavailable For Play-Offs

If Wednesday end up reaching the League One play-off final this season, they won't be making a trip to Wembley.

The play-off finals for the Championship, League One and League Two are usually scheduled to be played in reverse order over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

But next year's Champions League Final is being held at the home of English football, meaning the League One and Two play-off dates have had to be moved to alternative venues.

The Championship play-off final will go ahead as usual, 48 hours after the Champions League final, which is scheduled for Saturday, May 28.

But League One and Two clubs will play their finals elsewhere, with Cardiff's Millennium Stadium, Manchester United's Old Trafford and Aston Villa's Villa Park being touted as possible venues.

Owls fans, of course, will be hoping Wednesday secure a route back to the Championship in one of the two automatic promotion spots.

But the movement of the play-off finals will be a big blow to clubs in the bottom two divisions of the Football League who would usually look forward to a day out at Wembley.
