Turner Takeover Talk Hots Up For Owls
Talk of former Wednesday goalkeeper and manager Chris Turner being involved in a takeover bid for the Owls has stepped up a gear this week.
Turner is understood to be involved in a consortium, consisting mainly of Scandanavian businessmen, that is keen to takeover at Hillsborough, with Turner himself believed to be eyeing a director of football role as part of the deal.
The former stopper stepped down as manager of Hartlepool United last month for reasons unknown, although it's believed it was due to the Hartlepool board's dismissal of a cash injection of around £10m.
Turner took the decision to quit Victoria Park and has since been trying to direct the investment Wednesday's way, according to a report in today's Daily Mail.
Turner is thought to be part of two consortiums looking to invest in League One Wednesday.
The news ties in with Wednesday's appearance in the High Court today over the club's unpaid taxbill.
The club was given an extra 28 days to stump up the cash by HMRC but are back in the High Court today to deal with the matter.
