Plymouth Target Sturrock Return

Plymouth Target Sturrock Return

Plymouth Argyle are set to make an approach to Wednesday to take former boss Paul Sturrock back to Home Park, according to our sister site Vital Plymouth Argyle.

Argyle have given permission to Stoke City to speak to Tony Pulis about a possible return to the Britannia Stadium, which leaves Argyle without a manager as the new season draws closer.

Sturrock is still regarded as a legend at Home Park despite leaving for South coast rivals Southampton in March 2004 just before Arglye secured the League One championship.

He spent four-and-a-half years at the club and helped them to two promotions before leaving for the Saints. Bobbly Williamson took the reigns in what proved to be an unsuccessful time for the club.

Argyle chairman Paul Stapleton still holds a strong friendship with Sturrock after his time at Home Park and may be willing to pay compensation to the Owls should a move go -ahead.

But Owls chairman Dave Allen is likely to turn down the approach as Sturrock looks to build on a promising end to the 2005/1006 season and make a push for the play-offs this time round.

Nigel Worthington, no thanks! Sturrock surely won't be going anywhere, it would be a step down for him. He's started building here for next season, anyway.
