Modest Question For Alan...

Modest Question For Alan...

Following Wednesday's defeat to Carlisle at the weekend, is it about time that flying youngster Nathan Modest is introduced back to the first team?

The Owls, minus Jermaine Johnson look slow and unthreatening. With the Jamaican winger still some way off being ready to return to the fold, the only other speed king at the club is Modest.

The Sheffield youngster is the fastest player I've ever seen and has backed this up with goalscoring credentials for the youth team this season.

He scored in the opening fixture against Portsmouth and bagged a hat-trick against West Brom last week. Against Manchester City this week he looked a constant threat as the Owls earned a draw.

Modest has already played for the first team four times and this could be the time to re-introduce him. His pace would score any defender, let alone those in League One and now he's finally scoring goals on a regular basis.

Also, Modest offers something different to the strikers at Irvine's disposal.

Alan Irvine will no doubt be running the rule over Modest and other young players when they play against Bradford Reserves at Stocksbridge on Tuesday.

Have your say on whether Modest should taste some more first-team action on the forum and on our poll.

Good article, except against Hartlepool we have not looked prolific and lack of pace in team is a problem particularly on right side.

The Academy as had good results against Chelsea and Man City and are unbeatean. Liam Palmer, Nathan Modest and Vidaine Oliver deserve a chance. It's evident we lack a bit of pace and creativity. Some fresh youngsters blooded into the first team might help the first team. Keep them on their toes for their places. And youngsters tend to show no fear. We've got some decent youngsters so why not give some of them a chance?

why not bring one or two youngsters in, some senior players have obviously under-performed badly in the last couple of games. Slightly concerned our response to losing at Brentford was an even worse performance against Carlisle, 3 points at Plymouth Saturday will repair the damage and restore some faith.
