Irvine Slams 'Unacceptable' Owls

Wednesday boss Alan Irvine described his players performance as 'unacceptable' following their 3-2 loss against ten-man Plymouth Argyle in League One yesterday.

The defeat was the Owls' third on the spin and sends them down to eleventh in the league table, their lowest position of the season to date.

And Irvine laid into his players in the post-match press conference, saying: 'Some of the things that happened just should not have happened. They were unacceptable.

'Conceding goals, poor defending and not having the right mentality. That's what I'm bitterly disappointed about.

'You learn lessons all the time and I'm learning lessons about my players that's why I'm disappointed.'

Irvine now has a full week with his players ahead of the next game, a clash against another struggling pre-season favourite for promotion in Southampton at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Alan as much as i think you are a great manager you need to ring changes and do it now.The whole back four needs overhauling,Buxton needs his ass kicking,Spurr and Beevers are not consistant,Purse again a hero one week a villian next week.To be honest Alan we have people at this club to replace these people who fail us week in and week out. Us die hard Wednesday fans are not the ones booing you we are the ones paying there wages week in and week out,but from our point of view its S**t Alan. The team we have in place for this season should walk this league, and a loss is not exceptable let alone a draw.Every team has a bleep and let us get ours out the way now.We pay could money Alan and follow you home and away and we dont want to watch *****.(Drop them if you have to despise there big names and who they are).Make them want to pull on a Wednesday shirt with pride like Hirsty and Pearson and give a full 90 mins graft.

dire. we should have been looking at losing 3 games max all season, nevermind 3 on the bounce. AI had preston playing good, passing, attacking football, i was convinced thats how we were going to destroy teams this season, by playing them off the park. hopefully, its just a blip and we can push on against southampton.

I have to say, after 50 years following Wednesday I'm on the brink of giving up. I no longer live in Sheffield and am really tempted to give my local club a chance.I don't know how much money it's cost me over the years but it's a significant sum and frankly I expect more. Wednesday have always under achieved but in League 1 it's pretty pathetic. I too have respect for AI but our squad is underperforming week in week out and it's frankly time the youngsters were given a chance. Tudgay should be sold for whatever we can get ( not much I suspect) he's had so many chances and delivered FA. I want Lee Strafford back asap as he kept us informed. I have some shares bought in the 1920's by my Grandad and would happily use them to get shut of the prats running the club. Action now.........pu the club into administration, bankrupt the current directors and see who comes out of the woodwork to help save our great club. WTID

Complete mess. I wouldn't mind but how can we play 45 min against 10 men and still lose. When they equalised it should of been us who drove on and won. Any other team would of. Instead we concede two minutes later. I am sorry but this is simply not good enough. Changes needed urgently. Purse is just a whalley but we have no one to replace him Beevers isn't good enough Spur I am sorry lacks any quality though does tey and Buxton I think is out of position. Simek should never been allowed to go. I quite happily see the back of Purse Potter.

what good was widening the pitch it seems other teams have played better with us doing it than we have and it seems what ever training they are doing it`s not working are they are not putting 100% in

If we go into administration we will inevitably end up with a squad no better than tranmere or oldham. we have to rent back our stadium and training ground untill we can buy it back, never, it no the answer it the players that have to earn there money and the board that has to do some maths to realise that if they drop ticket prices, kids for a quid, two for one etc. it fills the ground, money up, better results, happy efin days!!
