Young Owls Fall To Slim Blades Loss

A youthful-looking Wednesday Reserves side fell to a slender 1-0 defeat against their counterparts from Steel City rivals Sheffield United on Wednesday night.

The young Owls line-up showed plenty of battling qualities at Bramall Lane but former Barnsley man Daniel Bogdanovic netted the winner for the Blades.

Richard Hinds was the only regular first-team squad member in the starting line-up, while reserve goalkeeper Aaron Jameson was in goal.

Promising youngsters Liam Palmer, Nathan Modest and Vaidane Oliver all got a run out while Cecil Nyoni put in a man of the match performance against a more experienced United side.

The winning goal came from the spot as Hinds conceded a penalty for handball and Bogdanovic stepped up to fire home what turned out to be the winner.

Owls: Jameson, Pinhorn (Tumilty 64), Haywood, Nyoni, Eckhardt, Hinds, Cottingham, Palmer, Oliver, Modest, Boden.
