Bischoff Signs For Coventry

Former Owls defender Mikkel Bischoff has signed a two year deal for Championship club Coventry City after being released from his contract at Manchester City - ending speculation linking him with a move to Hillsborough.

The 24-year-old was a big hit with the Owls faithful in the four games he played for the club before being ruled out for the remainder of the season through injury.

There were rumours from the Wednesday camp that Owls boss Paul Sturrock was set to offer the Danish defender a contract with the club despite his injury problems at S6 and in a previous loan spell with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

But that speculation has today been ended with the news that the former AB Copenhagen defender has signed on a free transfer from City.

Bischoff told the official Coventry City website: 'I came here three weeks ago and spoke to the manager and he gave me a really good impression of the Club. He took me around and talked to me about the ambitions of Coventry City and that really convinced me to join this Club instead of the other ones.'

It's thought Sturrock delayed making a move for Bischoff because of his injury problems at Manchester City, and his previous loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Former Crewe Alexandre defender Madjid Bougherra was preferred over the Dane and put pen to paper on a deal with the Owls two weeks ago.

I'm sure that's why we didn't sign him.. as I said on the forum, interesting to see just how much of the season he is fit and plays, but he's gone, move on.
