Owls Face Another Winding-Up Order

Owls Face Another Winding-Up Order

Wednesday have been served with their third winding-up order in as many months over unpaid tax to Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs, according to BBC Radio Sheffield.

HMRC is seeking another £600,000 in unpaid taxes by Wednesday and the Owls will be heading for another court date on Wednesday, November 17.

Wednesday were bailed out by their creditors, the Co-operative Bank, at the last court hearing but chairman Howard Wilkinson and chief executive Nick Parker warned Wednesdayites at the time that the club wasn't out of trouble.

Parker attended a fans' forum in Sheffield tonight and revealed that an overseas oilfield company have offered to pay £600,000 to pay off some of the current debt.

But he refused to confirm whether former Owls player and boss Chris Turner was involved in the offer, having been widely reported to be part of a consortium looking to invest in Wednesday.

Parker did reveal at the fans' forum that he was confident that the club could secure some much-needed investment, but it won't satisfy angry Owls fans who've heard it all before.

The news, although not exactly unexpected, is another kick in the teeth to Owls fans and comes in the middle of a five-game run without a win for Wednesday in npower League One.

big pat on the back for our board, 3 winding up orders in 3 months. These boys couldnt seperate their arse's from their elbows. i hope the bank say enough is enough,go in administration, take the hit now, clear out the dead wood from our board and start again. Come back club 9 sports, all is forgiven.

If we don't go into admin within the week I'd be amazed, more amazed than if we got 3 points saturday. Think I'll buy an extra euromillions ticket on Friday, I might then be able to help sort this mess out.

Hope this isn't the beginning of the end for us. We rely so much on the Co-op bank I can't help but feel this may be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Hope I'm wrong. We need a saviour ASAP.
