Owls Face Another Winding-Up Order

Wednesday have been served with their third winding-up order in as many months over unpaid tax to Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs, according to BBC Radio Sheffield.

HMRC is seeking another 600,000 in unpaid taxes by Wednesday and the Owls will be heading for another court date on Wednesday, November 17.

Wednesday were bailed out by their creditors, the Co-operative Bank, at the last court hearing but chairman Howard Wilkinson and chief executive Nick Parker warned Wednesdayites at the time that the club wasn't out of trouble.

Parker attended a fans' forum in Sheffield tonight and revealed that an overseas oilfield company have offered to pay 600,000 to pay off some of the current debt.

But he refused to confirm whether former Owls player and boss Chris Turner was involved in the offer, having been widely reported to be part of a consortium looking to invest in Wednesday.

Parker did reveal at the fans' forum that he was confident that the club could secure some much-needed investment, but it won't satisfy angry Owls fans who've heard it all before.

The news, although not exactly unexpected, is another kick in the teeth to Owls fans and comes in the middle of a five-game run without a win for Wednesday in npower League One.

big pat on the back for our board, 3 winding up orders in 3 months. These boys couldnt seperate their arse's from their elbows. i hope the bank say enough is enough,go in administration, take the hit now, clear out the dead wood from our board and start again. Come back club 9 sports, all is forgiven.

If we don't go into admin within the week I'd be amazed, more amazed than if we got 3 points saturday. Think I'll buy an extra euromillions ticket on Friday, I might then be able to help sort this mess out.
sussexowl
i agree sussex owl if i win the 82 million ill buy the club and sack the lot of them, then i will put them all on pay as you play contracts. Then watch the results turn around. Dezzy P whats the score with Club 9 have they vanished? The latest i remember was they was going to make an offer with Hobson for the 5 million needed. Then all just gone quite???
garrymo
garrymo, no idea mate, last thing i heard was we rejected a second bid for the club. christ knows what we the board are thinking. as long as the current board are at the helm, we have no future.
DEZZYP
Don't worry, the investment is days away remember. That's what they said two weeks ago.

Hope this isn't the beginning of the end for us. We rely so much on the Co-op bank I can't help but feel this may be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Hope I'm wrong. We need a saviour ASAP.
Carbone's Padawan
the club is a joke let's just enter admin now and get it over and done with this cant carry on
retfordowl1867
So if the Bank bailed us out with 800k (as reported in the star) to pay the last time and this is an amount of 600k where has the Lee Grant money gone????
Bognor_Owl
Anger, frustration embarrasment??? Just another day in the life of a wednesdayite, can this board really care about our club. I hate to say but even administration and a season in league 2 would be better than this s**t!!!
Plymouthowl
Farce, absolute farce. You are right Bognor, where has the money gone from selling Granty??? Greedy boards back pockets thats where!!! Get them out now and get the investment quick!!! Don't think the bank will let us go into administration as they would stand to lose millions if we do!!!
Hickyowl1977
hi ho, hi ho, it's into admin we go til the tax man get's paid, away the club will fade and the board don't make the grade hi ho, hi ho, hi ho, hi ho..........
sussexowl
if we go into administration we will get a points deduction then we`ll be fighting RELEGATION from league f^ck*ng 1.And in our current form things or not going to be fun.

What I find galling about this is there is absolutely nothing on Official web site, for example minutes of the forum. I have read several articles on the fans forum and some say an oil services company have offered to pay the bill and on the Owls Mad site it states another group who have yet to prove funds have offered to pay the bill. Also there is a reference to an exclusivity deal once again but says nothing further has een heard from this cosortium in the period. My impression when reading these reports is it sounds as though SWFC are waiting for these organisations to come to them when in fact it is SWFC who need to go cap in hand to them. Although Co-Op bank have been helpful we are in hock to them to such an extent they have made SWFC not an investment proposition. To cut their losses, they either have to take us over completely and sell to highest bidder or write off debt to the extent we are an investment proposition. It is one hell of a mess.

iv read in a few places that a norwegian oil company will pay the tax bill as a commitment to a long term takeover. no doubt this rumour will linger like a bad fart until our day in court and then our elite, top notch board will have to go cap in hand to the co-op bank yet again....it really is shamefull stuff.
DEZZYP
Shud of toolk the yanks offer when we had the chance, it wasn't the greatest offer but it would have had massive positive impact at the club, it would of got rid of tje current board, and boosted everyone..... Are the players getting paid?
OWL25
The Co-op bank own and run the club. Make no mistake about that. The board should resign as they have been sidelined. The bank will decide who is the right investor and who is not. Actually I am sort of comfortable with that, as the clowns on the board have done nothing but cock things up. The bank will settle this latest spat with HMRC. The bank has done a deal with the loan note holders so that they cannot scupper any investment, they have done likewise with the major shareholders. The net result will be that we will get some sort of investment, and we will end up with a new board. I am not critical of Howard Wilkinson or Nick Parker, but for gods sake they are grown men, one of which gets paid a healthy salary for feilding the crap from a few over emotional supporters. I suppose this will have an effect on the players on Saturday and we will have aready made excuse for AI, although he wont want to be seen to be using it, he will certainly make reference to it. We will then get the crap about mental toughness. Strongly dissagree that we will go into administration as a matter of course, but it will always be a possibility when you have no money, the team are crap and attendences are only 3500 above the number of season ticket holders. That dont pay the wages, never mind the PAYE Up this Owls
fed_up_owl
in reply to owls25, of course the players ar'nt getting paid they are doing it for the pride and passion of putting that halowed shirt on every week. B*^L"%KS they are. bunch of aged premadonas

Can anyone tell me why would someone invest in a club that is about to go into administration?, why would you invest to take on a 25mill debt, when you could wait for admin, the debt will be largely written off, and then you can invest in a club with a clean slate/no debt. Or am i missing something?
owl1
to be honest it dont really matter what happens to us because we will be in the same mess in ten years time if we into admin or have take over happens as players demand too higher wages and the bubble is about to burst in football as a whole. Its time all football fans joined together and protest against stupid transfer fees and high wages its gone too far

First entry on this site (used to post on BBC 606) - understand everyone's total frustration in everything that's going on - I think it's all been said over the last few weeks current board are an abject failure. Just as an afterthought: Papa Smurf's looking pretty good at E**and Road right now, don't you think :-(
chessieowl
i said to myself i belive something may happen when i see it on Sky Sports News.Last night it flashed across the screen so i belive there may be a glimmere of hope.Besides (Would you loan 600,000 to a total stranger without getting it back?)
garrymo
We have waited this long,a few more weeks to c what pans out isn't going to worry me.
carlton owl
