JJ To Give Owls Jet-Heeled Boost

Wednesday winger Jermaine Johnson could be set to give the Owls a jet-heeled boost this weekend as boss Alan Irvine decides whether he's ready for a first outing of the season.

The Jamaican has been sidelined for two months with a knee injury but has returned to full training and could be included in the Owls squad that travels to Notts County in npower League One tomorrow, Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

Johnson's return comes at just the right time for a Wednesday side that have not won in five matches and have surged down the league table at an alarming rate.

Irvine told the Sheffield Star: 'We'll see how he is. It's good to have him back on the training ground. We just have to make sure we're careful with him.'

The Owls boss used Johnson, who usually operates on the wing, as a striker on occasions last season and could look to use him there again given Wednesday's current lack of goals.

If Saturday's clash at Meadow Lane comes too early for Johnson, he could be used in next Wednesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash against Chesterfield at Hillsborough.

Thank christ, be great to have some pace in the team and a genuine threat to defenders.

Lets be realistic he's not going to change our slump in form overnight. Also bring him in slowly or his hamstrings will pop next. But its a player we need fit for the next 10-15 matches at least.
