Villa Starlet Lowry Linked With Owls

Wednesday boss Alan Irvine is keen on bringing young Aston Villa defender Shane Lowry on loan to Hillsborough, according to reports today.

The Australian defender, 21, could make the switch from Villa Park to Hillsborough on a month's loan deal, according to The People newspaper.

Irvine has revealed his desire to bolster his defensive options following an ankle injury to Mark Beevers which will rule him out of action for around two months.

The Owls' defensive options weren't helped yesterday with the sending off of right-back Jon Otsemobor, which will now see him sidelined through suspension.

Former Charlton Athletic defender Sam Sodje has been training with Wednesday in the last week and is expected to become an Owl as soon as the current transfer embargo on the club is lifted.

And Lowry, highly rated at Villa, could follow him to Hillsborough if today's newspaper reports are to be believed.

exactly the sort of loan deal i like to see, highly rated youngster looking for first team football.
we normally get linked with thses players and then we find out some other team have gone and got them! lets hope this one will go through.
need to get the money quick then so we can do business
Good signing for you lads. Played for Eire U21 but I am sure he has now pledged his International future to Australia and has been included in their full squad. Villa have loads of central defenders but this lad is good.
Yes, you land young Shane and he wont let you down. Left full back or in central defence, he'll do a very good job for you. Good Luck to you guys this season. Wont mean much to you, but I've always had a soft spot for The Owls, ever since I stood with your supporters at the Witton End (Villa Park) way back when (the sixties) for an F.A. Cup semi-final against Chelsea. You won 2-0.
great news but does anyone know when the money is due? when announced last week it sounded like money had been realesed
Bodsy owl
need to get our hands of the money first. surely we must have a couple of young lads in the youth team or reserves we can throw in rather than borrow inexperienced players from another team. id rather see our youth develope rather than developing other clubs players.
just the sort of player we need, if he's willing to come to S6 he's got to be keen for football. feel a bit of passion goes a long way. Can't think who we have at the moment in youth/reserves who can step up at the minute
dezzy id imagine that the reason we dont play our youngsters is because they are a bit s**t. i think villas youths may have a bit more of an edge.
ozzietheowl, lets just fire our academy off then and concentrate on giving first team football to other clubs youngsters. Thanks for your efforts with the youth team sean, now on your bike. i personally am sick to death of players turning up for a month and sodding off. i still like to think we are a better club than some premier league's feeder club.
Don't know why we are getting on our high horses about players, nobody is coming here until this investment comes, and that don't look like it's going to happen. Just how long does it take to give us some money, whats the big holdup, can someone please explain.
ecco owl
what exactly has sean done? our youth team were complete *****e last season, i like sean mcauley dont get me wrong, but i fail to see exactly why he is held in such high regards as some fantastic youth development coach. hes been here for years and what do we have? spurr and beevers. not really good enough really is it?
and richard wood...
i never said he's done a stirling job, i just said thanks for the effort. pretty pointless them being there if we dont use them. im a little fashioned like that, id rather our young players play then the quick fix 1 month loan deals. if they dont impress in the first team, then pack them off. i dont know if you have noticed, but getting loads of short term loans over the last decade has hardly worked out well for us has it?
Hope this guy from Villa doesn't have matchstick legs.
Radon Barrier
I've heard he's a bit of an artist
Thats terrible sussexowl.
ecco owl
but if they were good enough they would be playing surely??? the fact that they arent can only mean they arent good enough, whats the point in chucking in a bunch of youth players and losing games? we are supposed to be pushing for promotion.
Well, i shall repeat myself.....again. Why dont we just fire the academy off? if we cant give them a few minutes here and there in league one, then why bother? the point? save us a little money, incase you havent noticed our finances arent that great. but if your happy to waste money on people coming through the door one month at a time, on people who dont give a **** about the club....good for you.
